村山です。年をまたいで２ヶ月ぶりの追試です

多分大丈夫と思たのですが使っているマシンはUUCPやinnを動かしていたので、
これらを動かすとき必要なライブラリを消したのでないかと思い古いマシン
(NEC VR35)に新しくPlamo4.22をクリーンインストールして実験しています

smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes
smtpd_sasl_path = smtpd

ともコメントアウトし有効にするとローカルには正常に認証されたようですが
やはりまだyahooには認証に失敗しています

はい。mozillaのメーラーの設定で直接yahooの587番ポートに送ると正常に
送られているので、 /etc/postfix/sasl_password辺りが引っかかっている
のではないかと色々変更しながらさぐっています

現在/etc/postfix/sasl_passwordは
ybbsmtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp pirosiki1105:password
                              ↑
ここがyahooのアカウントですよね？
mozillaのメーラーでもこのアカウント設定を使って送信に成功しています
