アドレス解決ができないようですから、

	/etc/hosts
	/etc/resolv.conf
	/etc/nsswitch.conf

を確認したほうがいいでしょう。

/etc/hosts は正しいようですが、/etc/nsswitch.conf は file を参照する
ようになっているのでしょうか?

手元の古い Plamo98 の環境では、hosts のエントリは、以下のようになっています。
# NIS 関連は削除し忘れている

hosts:      files nisplus nis dns
